Cecilia's First Birthday!

An entire year has passed since Cecilia's arrival and we all made it! The year went by so quickly but we made some amazing memories. We wrapped up our first year together with a celebration. Thanks to our family and friends for joining us!

Fresh Corn Salad.

Below is the recipe as requested. It was a hit and very easy to make!

Fresh Corn Salad

Ingredients

5 ears of corn, shucked

1/2 cup small-diced red onion (1 small onion)

3 tablespoons cider vinegar

3 tablespoons good olive oil

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 cup julienned fresh basil leaves

Directions

In a large pot of boiling saled water, cook the corn for 3 minutes until the starchieness is just gone. Drain and immerse it in ice water to stop the cooking and to set the color. When the corn is cool, cut the kernels off the cob, cutting close to the cob.

Toss the kernels in a large bowl with the red onions, vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Just before serving, toss in the fresh basil. Taste for seasonings and serve cold or at room temperature.

The Birthday

Good morning, birthday girl!

Mommy, Daddy and Cecilia spent her actual birthday doing some of Cecilia's favorite things. Ceci loves to swim so we went to the pool!

Cecilia Climbs the Stairs!

Cecilia learned to climb the stairs this weekend. Yay! (insert sarcasm) Once she realized she could get up one step, it didn't take her long to climb up to the landing. The video is a little dark but you can see her climbing. She is a very determined little girl and when she decides she wants to do something, she does it!

An evening with Nana and Papaw

Cecilia spent Saturday night with Nana and Papaw Wilson. She had a great time!

After dinner, Cecilia played frisbee with Pippy.

Then she swung in the swing with Nana while Uncle Scott watched.

Cecilia just adores her Nana! She spends much of her day saying na-na but when Nana is around she says da-da. They must be her two favorite people!

The Greenbrier

We took a little a little mini-vacation to The Greenbrier last weekend. It is such a beautiful and scenic resort. Cecilia enjoyed her first trip here!

Cecilia turned 10 months old during our trip. 10 months!!! Where has the time gone? She is crawling everywhere. She pulls herself up to standing all of the time and is even taking "steps" while holding onto the furniture. Maybe walking is around the corner?

Dan and I took Cecilia to Adornetto's for the first time over the weekend.  Adornetto's always brings back such fun memories growing up in Zanesville.  After dinner, we took Cecilia to the St. Thomas Festival for our first festival of the summer.
