2 year and 9 month checkups

At Cecilia's two year checkup she:
weighed 27 lbs (75th percentile)
measured 36 inches (95 percentile)

The old tale is that doubling a child's height at two tells how tall she will be when she is finished growing. Turns out it isn't quite that simple. With the help of the Baby Center website, I was able to calculate her expected height. It is based on Mommy and Daddy's height and her current height and weight.

On her 18th birthday she is expected to be...*drum roll*...5 feet 9 inches.
This makes perfect sense since Mommy is a little over 5'9". I am sure we will be sharing clothes by the time high school rolls around!

Cecilia has become very long and lean. Nana and Papaw Wilson say that she reminds them of me. One of my uncles always referred to me as "stick" when I was growing up. I am not sure anybody will be calling me by that name anytime soon. She is still a very good eater though. Some days it is alarming that she eats as much as she does. Frannie and Cecilia even share some clothes and almost wear the same size diaper. Of course, the clothes fit much differently on Cecilia than they do Frannie.

At Frannie's nine month checkup she:
weighed 23 lbs 9 oz (98th percentile)
measured 30 1/4 inches (99th percentile)

We knew she was a big girl but WOW! Cecilia didn't way this much at her 12 month mark. As you can imagine, she is a big eater. The only time she gets upset is when she is hungry. She enjoys most everything we give her. At this point she is not very good with thicker solids and whole foods. She is getting better but we still have to watch her closely to make sure she doesn't choke. She is learning to use a sippy cup too.

Frannie started crawling around eight months. She tried and tried for awhile then one day she figured it out and hasn't stopped moving. She doesn't seem to be afraid of much. Cecilia was always (and still is) more cautious of things - she looks before she leaps. Frannie is the opposite. She lunges, dives, climbs, crawls, rolls and jumps without fear! She tries very hard to keep up with big sis.

Frannie is still our happy baby. She gives us big smiles and laughs. Watching her adoring eyes when Cecilia walks in the room or plays with her is priceless. It is easy to see that they are going to be the best of friends.

Happy 2nd Birthday Cecilia!

Realizing I have not "blogged" in almost four months, I know it is time to get back in the swing of things. What better day to start than on Cecilia's birthday? I started the blog when Ceci was born but the craziness of our life stopped me from spending the time updating.

Cecilia turns TWO today! I think the past two years have gone by so quickly but Dan feels the opposite. I suppose while it has gone by quickly for me it has also been the longest two years of my life. Is that possible? Life as we knew became richer and very, very different.

Since Ceci's birthday party isn't until this weekend, we gave her our gift this morning before school. Below is her reaction. At this young age, she still doesn't grasp the specialness and joy of a birthday. Until then, Mommy will relish in her special day. After all, there is no better holiday than your birthday!

Cecilia's First Haircut

Cecilia (finally) got her first haircut. We are still letting it grow out but the ends were in desperate need of a trim. Ceci was such a good girl! She sat still the entire time.

Such a big girl!

Checking herself out in the mirror.

Finally, nice and even!

Easter 2010

We spent Easter Sunday doing the usual holiday shuffle. It was a long day and the girls were (almost) perfect.

Frannie and Cecilia with the Dodd cousins (minus Syd).

Nana Dodd and Ceci.

Family photo minus one, active little toddler.

Family of four.

Frannie had fun hunting for eggs.

Cecilia on the hunt.

Ceci had so much fun hunting for eggs. She wanted to carry her basket of eggs around all day.

Ceci and Aunt Kristian.

The Easter Bunny brought Ceci and Frannie a basket of books. Mommy didn't order Frannie's basket in time so the girls shared this year.

Easter weekend was exhausting!

But a lot of fun!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

It has been too long since my last post! I went back to work at the beginning of February. I have been busy attempting to juggle being a Mommy & wife, having a career and doing my part for the community.

So what's new...
Frannie started sleeping through the night last week. For the longest time she seemed "stuck" and continued to wake up between 3 AM and 5 AM. She kept going to bed earlier but would continue to wake up earlier than I wanted and nothing seemed to work. She is now sleeping from 8 PM until 5:30-5:45 AM during the week. This morning she slept until 6:45 AM. Frannie rolled over for the first time this weekend. She rolls from her stomach to her back easily. She is still trying to figure out how to get from her back to her stomach. Daddy even got Frannie to giggle tonight. She sounds very much like her big sis.

Cecilia got a big girl bed this weekend. We decided to get her a full size mattress instead of a toddler or twin bed. I was very nervous about how she would transition. She slept in her new bed last night as if it was nothing new and today she napped like normal. She seems to really love it! In fact, tonight I was putting away the laundry (it never ends!) and she climbed into bed, laid back on her pillow and looked at me as to say "Mommy, I am ready for bed so could you shut off the light on your way out?". So I gave her a kiss goodnight and did just that.

The girls are really enjoying each other. Frannie loves watching Ceci! Big sister really enjoys "helping" taking care of Frannie. She tries to give her the pacifier and always brings her rattles to play with. It is very sweet to watch them together!

Here are a few photos from the past month...more to come!

Ceci had tubes put in because of her non-stop ear infections. She was such a brave little girl! The improvement since she got them is amazing. She no longer has a runny nose, cough and irritability.
